Fighting Unfit

It's a new year so I, like many people, have compiled a list of 'must do's' and 'nu-uhs'. These range from the most petty (getting up before 10am everyday during the week, don't leave jobs half-done) to the mammoth (learn to play the saxophone.. get fit).
I would say that secretly I doubt many of these will be achieved, but that goes against "Be more Positive".
In a brief and unpredicted brainwave, the notion of using a blog to log my progress came to mind, and so it shall be until I am sufficiently satisfied with the progress.. And as I appear to have no readers this is all the better. So here goes: My Blog-log

Day 1, or 8 if you're using a calendar, and I almost died. That's not an understatement - it is true what they say about your life flashing before your eyes. Half-way round lap one of a deceptively humongous lake i was thrust back into my childhood -- learning to ride a bike, my 12th Birthday, passing my GCSE's -- it all flashed back as I was wheezing and gasping and all the while trying to keep a cool confident face for all the families and dog walkers passing by (very slowly). Oh, if only they knew! would they have pity?
Normally, and in the past, I could manage maybe 5 laps and still be able to tackle the stairs without any assistance from my hands - but today was very different. As you may have noticed I did not die. While this made dealing with stairs marginally easier, there was no way in the world I could force any more than half-a-half-a-dozen without succumbing to a fatal cardiac arrest.

Something which always shocks me is how time slows down when you're on a run. I suspect may have cracked the secret to time travel or at least time-manipulation at this rate, and doubtless Stven Hawkins would be delighted, but as this wasn't on my list of 'things to do' for 2012 it will have to wait until next year. Days went by while I was on that run. In fact, I'm convinced I saw the coming of spring and falling of the trees' leaves at least once during my run. That might also go some way to explaining the snow-drift. But on checking my watch and the end, only 5 minutes had passed - how?? how is this possibly? I was hardly going at Bolt pace!
Well at least it proves one maxim: "time flies when you're having fun" and thus equally: "stops when you're dead"

Life was more perky again after a long softening shower, so I feel I can face the day at least! But getting fit is no mean feat and will take buckets perseverance, optimism and a touch of encouragement - Lets hope I can manage it!
